We are incredibly lucky to have not just one, but two fantastic, free summer concert series right at our fingertips. Between Holden Beach and our close neighbors at Ocean Isle Beach, you can easily dance your way through the entire weekend!
🎤The 2026 Holden Beach Summer Concert Series
Nothing says summer like beach music under the open sky. This free event runs every Sunday evening from May 24th through September 6th, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
Local Insider Tip: To kick off the season, the concerts will be held at Bridgeview Park (125 Davis Street). Keep an eye out mid-season, as the venue is scheduled to shift over to Block Q. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and get ready to shag dance!

🎤 The 2026 Ocean Isle Beach Peggy Hughes Summer Concert Series
Kick off your weekends just minutes down the road! This beloved series runs every Friday night from late May through September 6th, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
Where: Town Center Park (11 E. Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach)
The Vibe: High-energy beach music, classic rock, and soul in a beautiful, state-of-the-art park setting. It’s the ultimate way to transition into a coastal weekend frame of mind.
Local Insider Tip: Families love this venue because it features a great playground and splash pad area for the kids, alongside permanent restrooms. You can begin setting up your lawn chairs at the park starting at 4:00 PM. (Note: No pets, smoking, vaping, or glass containers are permitted during concert hours).
2026 Lineup Highlights: Look out for amazing regional talents like The Entertainers, Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot, Rivermist, and The Embers featuring Craig Woolard.

🎪 Can't-Miss Annual Island Festivals
Living on Holden Beach means having front-row seats to some of the best coastal festivals in North Carolina. We bookend the warm season with massive family favorites just minutes from your front door.

🌸 Days at the Docks Festival (Spring)
When: Mid-April (April 25–26, 2026)
Where: Holden Beach Pavilion & Under the Bridge
The Vibe: This festival has been running since the 1980s to celebrate the kickoff of spring. It features over 50 arts and crafts vendors, live street dances, a cardboard box boat race, and the world-famous "Bopple Race" where thousands of plastic bopples are dropped from the bridge to race down the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway for cash prizes!

🏴☠️ Ahoy, Mateys! Annual Pirate Week
When: Early-July (July 7 – 12, 2026)
Where: The Museum of Coastal Carolina and the Town of Ocean Isle Beach
The Vibe: If you have little swashbucklers in your crew, you won't want to miss one of the most unique summer highlights in our area. The Museum of Coastal Carolina and the Town of Ocean Isle Beach team up every summer to host their legendary Annual Pirate Week! The week is packed with pillaging, plundering, and high-seas history celebrating North Carolina's infamous maritime past with events like Pancakes with Pirates, Live Sowrd Fighting, Scavenger Hunts, and Historical Sandbar Lectures.

When: First Saturday in October (October 3, 2026)
Where: Near the Ingram Planetarium, Sunset Beach
The Vibe: This massive community block party is Sunset Beach's favorite signature event. It brings together over a hundred quality craft vendors, local food trucks, and live entertainment. It also features a 5K Beach Run/Fitness Walk for adults and a Children’s Fun Run right on the sand!

🦪 The 45th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival (Fall)

When: October 17 – October 18, 2026
Where: Town Center Park (11 E. Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach)
The Vibe: Considered the absolute crown jewel of local seafood events, this festival draws tens of thousands of bivalve-lovers to our shores every October. You can sample oysters fried, steamed, raw, or in rich stews, witness the high-stakes North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championship, and enjoy live music from crowd favorites like The Embers featuring Craig Woolard.

🍁 North Carolina Festival by the Sea (Fall)
When: October 24 – October 25, 2026
Where: Jordan Boulevard, Holden Beach
The Vibe: This massive autumn celebration features a parade, live entertainment, a huge selection of coastal cuisine, and a marketplace showcasing regional craftsmen and artists. Best of all? Admission and parking are completely free. It’s the perfect event to experience our island's close-knit community spirit.

🎬 Outdoor Movie Nights Under the Stars
While Holden Beach proper keeps its shores quiet at night for our nesting sea turtles, you don’t have to drive far to enjoy a classic outdoor film! Our surrounding Brunswick County sister community hosts an incredible open-air cinema just minutes over the bridge.
🍿 Ocean Isle Beach "Movies in the Park"
When: Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer (May 20th – August 19th)
Where: Town Center Park (11 E. Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach)
What to Expect: Admission is entirely free, and movies begin right after sunset (usually between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM). They feature family-friendly blockbusters and crowd-pleasing throwbacks, complete with local food and dessert vendors on site.

If you enjoy staying active, our local beaches host some of the most scenic road races in the country. Thanks to Coastal Race Productions, our area is home to the famous BAM! (Big Ass Medals) Race Series, known for stunning courses over the Intracoastal Waterway bridges and massive, beautiful finisher medals.
